Text and Visual Differences
Visual artifacts and textual artifacts effectively communicate their message. Both artifacts are good sources of communication to the audience. The distinction between these two artifacts is the level of understanding they bring to the table. Textual artifacts are more powerful than visual artifacts, at least for the majority of the people. A group of viewers find the visuals to be appealing, and easier to understand than the text. They are visual people who need a clear image of the subject they are dealing with. The other type of audience prefers textual artifacts. I am part of the second group. Although the visual does help me communicate and understand the subject I am covering, it fails to fully give me the level of understanding that I need. The text allows me to create an image in my head that becomes my visual. I can get the best of both worlds by focusing on the text. With the visuals I can only focus on one thing, that being the visual. There is no other source of help. Textual artifacts not only help the audience create and aimage of the topic, but also understand the topic completely. The text describes a variety of things, ranging from emotions to settings. I am able to communicate the emotion behind the topic by simply writing about. I can describe the emotion of sadnes, when I describe the torture zoo animals go through. The visual of these animals communicated some type of feeling and a clear image of some of the settings these animals are in, but it does not fully and effectively communicate the whole concept to the audience.
