The library is my favorite place on campus. Where else could I concentrate for 5 whole hours? If you want to study and actually dedicate a hundred percent of your mind to it, go to the library. The environment is quiet, only a few high-pitched conversations are heard at times. Even then, these conversations are school related ninety percent of the time. It is as if the library were to be a magical place where as soon as you entered nothing but your tests mattered. People gather in the library to study for that difficult midterm exam or to finish a group project. The number of reasons why students gather there is long. In order to become a “library student” you must be quiet and respectful. People find their safe haven in the library. It is expected for you to be as quiet as you can be in order to allow the other students to fully concentrate. The discourse between people in this location is mostly formal. You have a group of students who are doing a project together, in which they must communicate efficiently in order to do the work correctly. You also have students who are tutoring other students and need to get their points across. Some informal chatter is used in the library but the majority of people there use a more formal approach to communicate with each other. The number one purpose of all people in the library is to get things done. The environment reeks of concentration. You can almost see the fume coming out of students’ head. It is quite easy to become victim of dedication. Students around you are deeply engrossed in their textbooks, they are writing their essays or finishing their project. Everyone around you has a job to do and not just any job but a highly important job. Engraved in the mind of each student in the library is the desire to excel in their education.
